CariKerja : A Job-Seeking Platform

CariKerja is designed to streamline the job search process for fresh graduates and improve recruitment efficiency for employers. The platform connects fresh graduates with potential employers, providing tools and resources to aid in finding and securing employment. 

BACKGROUND

    The job market has grown more competitive and dynamic, posing serious challenges to companies and job seekers alike. It's getting harder for companies and job seekers to find the ideal fit in the increasingly competitive job market. Finding appropriate job openings, navigating the application process, and standing out among the crowd of applications are challenges that job seekers frequently face. The functionality and user experience of traditional job boards are also frequently limited, which results in inefficiencies and lost opportunities. Therefore, employers struggle to find eligible applicants, handle a high amount of applications, and carry out the hiring process effectively.

    Our team started developing a complete job search platform that uses latest technology to close the gap between companies and job searchers after realizing these difficulties. Our platform is designed to simplify the job search process, improving its effectiveness, transparency, and usability for all users. By offering an intuitive, feature-rich platform that improves communication between businesses and job seekers, CariKerja seeks to address these issues.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

    Fresh graduates entering the job market face numerous challenges in finding suitable employment opportunities. Their lack of job experience sometimes causes them to struggle, even with their talent and educational background, making it harder for them to compete with more experienced candidates. It can be difficult to go through the countless job advertisements and make sure their applications stand out. Applying for jobs may be a difficult and time-consuming procedure that requires specific cover letters, resumes, and answers to certain job needs.

    CariKerja aims to address these challenges by providing a few solutions for fresh graduates. The platform will offer filtering feature for searching jobs based on the users’ experiences, skills and qualifications. By addressing these issues, our platform aims to empower fresh graduates to find suitable job opportunities more efficiently and start their careers on a strong footing.

OBJECTIVES

• Provide filtering feature for fresh graduates to find suitable jobs based on their experiences, skills and qualifications.
• To connect job seekers with potential and desired employers, facilitating the search process for job seekers.
• Allow users to create profiles, search for job opportunities, search and apply for job opportunities that match their skills and preferences.

USER RESEARCH

    To understand the needs and challenges faced by fresh graduates in the job market, we used a mixed-method approach to perform extensive user research. Initially, we interview a fresh graduate to gather quantitative data on his job search experiences, application processes, and the types of resources he found most beneficial. Then, we spoke with him in-depth to learn more about his individual challenges and expectations from a job-seeking site. Additionally, we held question and answer (Q&A) to facilitate discussions about his common frustations and potential solutions. Through the interview and Q&A session, we were able to compile a comprehensive picture of user preferences and needs. This information helped us build and develop our platform in a way that would best meet the particular needs of fresh graduates.

USABILITY TESTING AND  USER EXPERIENCE

    For the implementation of questionnaires method for our interfaces, we prepared a forms by Google Forms website. The question consists of 9 simple question and we try to avoid from asking personal and privacy question from the respondent. The question focuses on the feedback for our website platform which is job seeking website. We use multiple choice question and scale question. Our target for this survey are from 18 and above as we implementing to those who are looking for a job by using online platform. Once the google form is done, we distributed the forms to the target audience. Most of the respondent are mostly fresh graduated students and mid age workers that are searching for part time workers and full time.

    The platform used is social media, particularly WhatsApp application, which is the biggest platform that is used to communicate by most of the people. We periodically reminding and reshare the google form link to the targeted users so that they can complete the survey and help ensure timely submissions.

    I had a wonderful and challenging experience as the project manager. Managing the work as a whole team required careful planning and effective communication. Making sure that everyone in the team understood the project's objectives and timelines was one of the toughest tasks, particularly when handling unexpected issues. Through this project, I learned the importance of flexibility and adaptability, as well as the value of establishing a collaborative team environment. My capacity to lead projects to successful completion has been reinforced and my project management skills have improved tremendously as a result of this experience.

MUHAMMAD REDZUAN BIN MARZUKI

    As the UX/UI Designer, I was primarily responsible for developing a user interface that was both aesthetically pleasing and intuitive, with the goal of satisfying the needs of fresh graduates. Understanding user behavior and preferences was greatly enhanced by doing usability testing and user research. The biggest difficulty was adjusting designs in response to criticism while keeping project deadlines in mind. This experience served as further evidence of the value of user-centered design and the necessity of being adaptable when making changes to designs in response to actual user interactions. It also improved my ability to translate user needs into effective design solutions.

    In my role as Developer, I was responsible for leading my team on creating an efficient and reliable system for the platform. Efficient problem-solving and thorough testing were necessary to guarantee code quality and combine multiple elements properly. One important lesson that I learned was how crucial it is to keep the team's documentation clear and lines of communication open in order to avoid misunderstandings and guarantee efficient work. This project not only honed my technical skills but also enhanced my leadership and mentoring abilities, preparing me for more challenging projects in the future.

    As the data analyst, I transformed raw data into actionable insights that guided our design and development, ensuring the platform met user needs. Ensuring the accuracy and authenticity of the data from our interviews and surveys was a major difficulty. It took great care and constant testing to balance quantitative data with qualitative insights and improve our job-matching systems. I enhanced my skills in data analysis, visualization, and statistical analysis, and learned to effectively communicate complex insights to the team and our target users. The importance of based on information decision making in developing user-focused solutions was highlighted by this project. This study demonstrated how information findings could help job seekers by affecting product development. The skills and knowledge gained will be invaluable in my future work as a data analyst.
